Should I review the result?
Yes. Fixly aims to preserve your meaning and formatting, but check names, numbers, facts, and paragraph structure before using a rewrite or translation.
Does it really work in every app?
App support depends on whether Fixly can read the selected text through accessibility. On both platforms, results appear in a popup for review and copying; Fixly does not automatically replace your selection. If the selection cannot be read, use Writing studio on Windows or the practice box in Mac Setup.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac running macOS 26 or later with Apple silicon (M1 or newer), or a Windows 11 x64 PC. Windows 10 and ARM devices have not completed compatibility testing. Setup downloads a language model once — about 1.1 GB for the fast model, or 3.1 GB for the balanced model on either platform. Windows uses your CPU for inference; speed and memory use depend on the model and text length. Keep several additional GB free for engine downloads and updates. Writing runs locally; activation, periodic license validation, updates, and optional analytics use the internet.
Do I need an internet connection?
The internet is used to install the app, download models, activate and periodically validate a purchase, check for updates, and send limited acquisition measurement when enabled. Rewrites and translations run locally; temporary network outages do not remove an unexpired paid entitlement.
Is my writing used for training?
No. Your text is never transmitted anywhere, by anyone, for any purpose — so there is nothing to train on, sell, or leak.
Is it the same on Mac and Windows?
Both platforms share the modes, default shortcuts, and local processing. Both Mac and Windows show results in a popup for you to review, copy, and paste. Fixly does not automatically replace selected text. One purchase covers both.
How fast is it?
Speed depends on your hardware, selected model and text length. The first request can take longer while the model loads.
